Unfortunatly no lens is perfect and the Canon 50mm lens 1.4 is no exception. Because the casing of the lens is made from plastic it feels cheap. When using a 5 blade aperture you can get quite a harsh background blur and flaring can also be a problem on occasion.

This lens may have a few negatives but it the amount of positive qualities makes it all worth it. For the price you can ask for a better lens. So all in all, the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Lens is defiantly worth a look.
