The world wide web has created an amazing variety of image-related sites. Almost all of them are free to sign-up with, with fees for deluxe features or a larger photo storage space. Their functions range from experienced to novice, from social networking to photo sharing, from selling pictures to bookmarking what you like. What’s more, a good number of these websites combine such features to cook up their own formula.

You can be a content fanatic and exhaust days learning all your choices, or simply start up on one of the more popular websites, where you’re practically assured to have a fine experience with a plethora of features to keep you busy.

But what are the requirements aside from getting pictures onto the hard drive? Hold on! Some websites even let you upload photos right from your cell phone! Now, allow me to rephrase that. What are the requirements to get your images prepared for image sharing websites?

After you pick the picture sharing site that fits your needs, you’ll want to identify the restrictions there are on bandwidth. Is there a monthly limitation as to how many images you can upload to their server? How much does it cost to upgrade to a higher limit? Of course that is of consequence only if you’ll want to share a great number of photos.

If you are concerned about the maximum values, there are a few things you can get done to stay under that radar and get around upgrading. Your best decision is to upload only those photos that are really worth sharing, either for the reason of their personal significance, or because of their artistic merit. Obviouisly, that depends on the reason why you’re there. If you’re selective, you’ll be uploading less images, and getting more out of what you do share.

A lot of picture sharing sites do not have photo restrictions because these websites are intended to share high resolution photos. However, if you don’t require the highest resolution, resizing the image is an excellent idea. If your camera was set to high resolution, but you just need to share an ordinary picture, you can use a program such as Bulk Photo Resizer to do the job very straightforwardly.

These jagged edges or “jaggies” are from the square pixels that make up the image.

When those squares get too big they become pretty evident throughout the picture, not just on the periphery. Things start looking like the effect you see used on television to veil someone’s face or license plate.
