By Imanuel Henry
Gateway has been entered the digital photography world with their model DC-T50 and DC-M50 as their 5.25MP and 5.0MP Camera. Although many reviews were told its weakness from many sides, few of them were spoke its goodness. But let’s take a look for a while the Gateway Cameras products
DC-T50
This DC-T50 is 5.25-megapixel cameras that you can get with $349. It is have a solid-looking metal body, with 3x optical zoom lens, and weight at 6-ounce. You can see that it is a little bit larger than a deck of cards when the lens is closed. You can fit it on your pocket, briefcase, or purse, makes it portable.
This Gateway Cameras is suitable for the newcomer. It has mode dial that give the user great control of the camera that will allow the user to adjust the camera parameters.
As additional feature, you can take short video clips with sound from this Gateway Camera Software. This camera is supported with good battery life time. Around 150 pictures you can take for one charge along with the uses of LCD screen. Also it will give you excellent white balance.
In the other hand, as mentioned above, this digital camera has some weakness as follows:
- longer time for autofocus
- the image taken from indoor is not as good as from outdoor
- you need to hold longer until the photo appears on the LCD or you will get the blur image
- the time between pressing the shutter and getting the image is longer, especially if you using the 512MB
Overall, this Gateway Cameras can be said as the lowest-priced for 5-megapixel cameras on the market.
DC-M50
This Gateway Cameras are covered the basics well. The brother from Gateway Cameras DC-T50, DC-M50 is having 5-megapixel for $249, 3x optical zoom, and 1.8” LCD screen.
It produces crisp image and can be printed until 11×14-inches. Additional features offered are four automatic exposure modes; shoot 320×240 video clips with sound, record voice memos, self-portrait, record date and time as the part of the image, and white-balance presets.
But in the other side, the M50 is lack of rechargeable batteries, limited light-sensitivity selections, single center-weighted metering mode, and slow lens.
Conclusion
The Gateway Cameras DC-T50 can be said to be failed to rise anywhere from its price or resolution class. This Gateway Camera Assistant still leave behind because of its performance and image quality although its design and feature is competitive. This happened also with its brother the Dc-M50. Maybe from that reasons, this product is not released any longer. Let’s wait for the new Gateway Cameras. Hope it will bring higher quality in performance and produced image.
