Mannequin: Unsurprising script, however fine poke by megastars, typical MGM glass even in the tenements! Cast includes Joan Crawford, Spencer Tracy, Alan Curtis, Ralph Margan, Lea Garcey, and Elisabeth Risdan. (95 minutes, 1937)

The Painted Desert: Clash and romance between the adopted child Boyd and baby girl of 2 long-feuding Westerners. A tad firm, albeit the landscape is gorgeous; remarkable mostly for Gable’s talkie debut. Some action shots are missing and suddenly cut out to use in 1938 redo. Cast includes William Boyd, Helen, William Farnum, Farrell MacDonald, and Clark Gable. (75 minutes, 1931)

The Black Orchid: Concocted soaper of bumbling businessman (Quinn) courting mafia widow (Loren) and the complication of persuading their youngsters that matrimony can make all their lives more superior. The Cheyenne Communal Club: Jimmy inherits and runs a bawdy home in the Old West. The film has lots of chuckles, although stereotypes are thick throughout the film. Cast includes Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Shirley Jones, Sue Ane Langdon, and Elaine Devry. (1003minutes, 1970)

Ironweed: William Kennedy adjusted his Pulitzer Treasure-triumphing novel in reference to road individuals, set in Albany, N.Y., 1938. Nicholson plays a guy trying to come to terms with the life he turned his back on years ago. Streep is his longtime friend who, like him, can?t stay off the bottle for long. Cast includes Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Carroll Baker, Michael O’Keefe, Diane Venora, Fred Gwynne, Margaret Whitton, Tom Delays, Jake Dengel, Nathan’ Aisle, James Gammon, Joe Grifasi, Bethel Leslie, Ted Levine, and Frank Whaley. (144 minutes, 1987)

Air America: Guides Mel and Bob are part of the C.IA.?s smuggling operation in Laos throughout the Vietnam War. They crate anything and anyone anyplace. Too bad they couldn’t soar in a script physician. Supposed action comedy has few giggles and makes little sense. Cast includes Mel Gibson, Robert Downey, Jr., Nancy Travis, David Marshall Grant, Aisle Smith, Ken Jenkins, and Art La Fleur. (112 minutes, 1990)
